DESCRIPTIONS OF WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS (17 June, BBC Leicester)
Dear teacher,
Welcome to this dayschool, which is designed for teachers of English and Creative Writing. The dayschool includes two main workshops: the first is from a teachers perspective, the second from a writers; the dayschool aims to foster both pedagogical debate and creative work.
The dayschool is part of an ongoing project Crystal Clear Creators is running, called Creating Words, Creating Worlds. This project is funded by the Ernest Cook Trust, and is supported by Loughborough University, BBC Leicester, Beauchamp College, Loughborough College and Arts Council England, amongst others. The aim is to run a series of three dayschools in Leicestershire on the role and teaching of Creative Writing in the Curriculum. Two of the dayschools are for Key Stage 4-5 students, one of the dayschools (today) is for teachers of English and Creative Writing. The first dayschool took place in Beauchamp College, Oadby (April 8, 2006), and the final one (again, for students) will take place in Loughborough University (8 July 2006). Thereafter, Crystal Clear Creators will be producing a short report about the project to circulate among teachers and schools. We are keen to receive feedback and comments about the project, and about the subject of Creative Writing in the Curriculum, so please do get in touch.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy the day.
Thanks for coming,
Maria Taylor
